Experimental Analysis of the Aerobic stabilization Efficiency of an existing MBT plant

The management of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) has been strongly improved by the last Waste FrameworkDirective 2008/98/CE, by increasing the amount of waste materials that have to be reutilized, prepared for reutilizationand/or recycled. In any case, even if these goals will be achieved, a large amount of residual MSW from the SourceSegregated collection (SS) will need to be properly managed.Incineration is a quite suitable way for managing these materials even if it is costly and not homogenously spread in thedifferent European Areas. How compatible are compostable bags with major industrial composting and digestion technologies?
© European Compost Network ECN e.V. (6/2012)
Industrial composting has widely implemented across in Germany for over 20 years. During the last decade and driven by legislation, the separate collection of organic waste has grown more and more popular. As a result, a broad variety of technologies of industrial composting and anaerobic digestion are in place. According to the Bundesgütegemeinschaft Kompost’s (BGK; the German Quality Assurance Association for Compost) classification scheme, there are eight major types of process, so-called ‘Hygiene-Baumusterkategorien’, which differ a lot with regard to their technical components and composting/digestion times.

WASTE DISPOSAL Underground waste collection is becoming increasingly popular. The system is also suitable for other recyclable materials such as glass or packaging.

Rating landfills in terms of sustainable development – design of a pilot study
© Lehrstuhl fĂźr Abfallverwertungstechnik und Abfallwirtschaft der Montanuniversität Leoben (11/2006)
Although municipal solid waste landfills are often seen as least preferable waste management tools with respect to sustainable development (SD), they will eventually further on play a crucial role as final sinks of our anthropogenic metabolism.

Investigations to characterize the gasphase in waste landfills - doctoral dissertation extended summary
© Verlag Abfall aktuell (5/2005)
The presented theses deals with landfill gas, the most important cause for air pollution at landfills. The expression “landfill gas” is used for all gases which are produced in a landfill either through microbial degradation or by converting of waste from the solid or liquid phase to the gas phase.

Characterization of alternative fuels

The Challenges of Environmental Protection in Croatia
© Lexxion Verlagsgesellschaft mbH (2/2005)
The policies that underpin environmental protection in Croatia are set out in the National Environmental Strategy and the National Environmental Action Plan passed by the Croatian Parliament on 25 January 2002. The National Environmental Strategy attempts to reconcile action in two basic strategic directions.

Volcanic soils of southern Chile have demonstrated a great capacity to adsorb environmental pollutants.

For industrial applications in wastewater treatment facilities, a stable ceramic material was produced. The proposed process is based on the generation of a volcanic soil-polyurethane foam made with recycled PET-polyols.
